Meeting Australian Artist David Bromley (and his beautiful boy Keith)

Back in 2021 I was lucky to sneak out of NSW in-between lockdowns to Victoria to photograph lots of fabulous country dogs and their owners for the second book. One of my last shoots in the Daylesford area was with Australian artist David Bromley. Was I in for a treat.

We were were greeted by the delightful David who was a total character and so generous with his warmth and story telling. My sister and I both immediately fell in love with his dog Keith who was a big goofy love bug.

I almost died on the spot when I walked in to the entrance of David's incredible MASSIVE never ending warehouse studio building - there was about 6 giant warehouse spaces all linked together and each one had a different collection of art - mostly David's must also his private collection. All of them under searingly high ceilings letting in the most beautiful diffused light (photographers dream lighting!) It was all just a feast for the senses and we could have spent days in there exploring!

Paintings EVERYWHERE. Paintings for days in fact. Wherever we walked David would find an unfinished painting and do some touching up.. its was just so amazing to be in this creative space with David. And listen to a cheeky story or two of course along the way.

The love between these two..well you can see it can't you.

Thank you David and your beautiful wife Yumi for an experience my sister and I will never forget.

You can see Keith and David in the Country Dogs On Doorsteps book. You can see David Bromely's incredible work at Bromley & Co.
